On February 25, 2022, the Iran 1400 Project spoke with author and editor Christopher Nelson about a collection of poems that he edited entitled Essential Voices: Poetry of Iran and Its Diaspora. During the first half of the session, Mr. Nelson recited poetry from several different Iranian poets, providing background information on each poet. The latter half of the session resulted in an interesting Q&A session discussing topics such as modernity, the evolution of poetry in Iran, and why poetry is an important part of Iranian life and society.
Christopher Nelson is the author of Blood Aria (University of Wisconsin Press, 2021) and three chapbooks. He is the founder and editor of Green Linden Press and the journal Under a Warm Green Linden, named by Entropy Magazine as one of the best journals of 2017, and a three-time finalist for the CLMP Firecracker Award.
