On August 29, 2023, the Iran 1400 Project interviewed Frieda Afary about the effects, obstacles, goals, and potential transformations of the Woman, Life, Freedom movement. She discussed the significance of the increased awakening to the plight of women in Iran and addressed the Islamic Republic’s severe use of force as a major obstacle. She also examined the demands of various feminist groups before exploring potential responses and strategies on both a national and global level.

Frieda Afary is an Iranian American socialist feminist activist, translator and writer. She is a public librarian in Los Angeles, where she runs philosophy and politics classes for the community including young women activists and scholars representing Black Lives Matter, Latina, queer and labour activists.
