On August 4, 2023, the Iran 1400 Project interviewed Dr. Houman Sarshar about the effects, obstacles, goals, and potential transformations of the Woman, Life, Freedom movement. Dr. Sarshar discussed the extensive suppression methods employed by the Islamic Republic, including its complex policing system, which can instill fear among the Iranian population. Nevertheless, he underscored that despite the prevailing pessimism among Iranians, the protests demonstrated the potential for change. He also addressed the repercussions of Iran’s economic ties with Western countries and stressed the necessity of establishing a fully democratically elected secular government in Iran.
