On January 27, 2023, the Iran 1400 Project had the pleasure of speaking with Dr. Robert Asaadi about his current research and his new book Postrevolutionary Iran: The Leader, The People, and the Three Powers. Dr. Asaadi spoke about the challenges of polling in Iran. He gave a rundown of the current institutions that conduct polling in/on Iran and explained the importance of gauging public sentiment in the country. During the Q&A session, he commented on polling institutions within Iran and how scholars can work to further improve polling methods. Additionally, he touched on the structure of the Islamic Republic and how it relates to the question of “reform or revolution?”
Robert Asaadiis a professor of Political Science and chair of the Internationalization Steering Committee at Portland Community College. His research and teaching interests include international relations theory, international security, Middle East and Iranian politics, and U.S. Foreign Policy.
