Haideh Moghissi is an Emerita Professor at York University in Toronto. Before leaving Iran in 1984, she was a founder of the Iranian National Union of Women and member of its first executive and editorial boards. As Canada’s leading scholar in gender and Islam, she has led a number of international collaborative research projects and was recipient of several major awards.
